Metropolitan Design School was founded by the Campitiello family—Rosalba, Nick, Enza, and Sal—the same family behind East End Interiors, a trusted name in the design community for more than 35 years.
East End Interiors was originally founded by Rosalba, a Parsons-trained interior designer whose career was built on creativity, craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to client satisfaction. As her work grew, she—together with Nick, their children, and the East End Interiors team—transformed the company into a respected to-the-trade showroom known for expertise, service, and hands-on support.
Throughout their decades of work with designers, the Campitiello family remained dedicated to helping creatives succeed. So when the Long Island Metropolitan Institute of Design abruptly closed in 2022, it left a significant gap in interior design education on Long Island—and an opportunity to continue supporting emerging talent.
Recognizing this need, the family began a multi-year journey, working closely with the New York State Department of Education to establish a new, high-quality design school that would provide the practical skills, industry exposure, and professional guidance aspiring designers deserve.
Metropolitan Design School is the result of that vision: a place where education and real-world experience come together. Rooted in the values that define the Campitiello family—quality, opportunity, and giving back—the school is committed to preparing students for real clients, real projects, and real success.
MDS offers an immersive, in-person education that blends creative vision with real-world practice — from color theory and spatial planning to residential and commercial design.
